TABLE TENNIS

 

 

Team

- Each team will be made up of 4 players, with one or more reserves. Such players will be seeded from 1 to 5 according to ability.

- As per the Zone rules, players are only allowed to play in one match per day. If this rule is breached the offending player will create a forfeit in the lower grade/age match.

 

Player rankings

- Schools are required to submit player rankings for all teams as requested by the Zone Convenor. Rankings can be adjusted throughout the season if needed to allow for changing abilities.

- All player rankings are to be finalised by a set date within the season (to be confirmed each season by the Convenor). 

 

Order of Play

The team shall consist of four players and a reserve.

 

* If a player is absent (or not playing that week), each player will move up in seedings for that week only i.e. if the 1st seed is absent, the 2nd seed will become the 1st seed, the 3rd seed will become the 2nd seed and so on.


• The match shall consist of up to seven matches - four singles and three doubles.


• The order of play, shall be as follows:

Singles:
o No. 1 v No. 1,
o No. 2 v No. 2,
o No. 3 v No. 3,
o No. 4 v No. 4.

 

Doubles:
o No. 1 + No. 3 v No. 1 + No. 3,
o No. 2 + No. 4 v No. 2 + No. 4,
o No. 1 + No. 2 v No. 1 + No. 2.

 

Length of sets

 

Each match shall consist of the best of five games

 

A game is won by being the first player to win 11 points, and be at least 2 points ahead of their opponent. If both players have won 10 points, then the first player to get a 2 point lead wins the game.

 

Match results

Match results are decided on the number of rubbers.

 

Umpiring

Umpiring is to be shared by both teams.

 

Semi Finals and Finals

Venues will be determined by the Convenor and/or the Zone Executive.
